WHO WE ARE
At Harvest 10:2 we are Creating a community of collaborators, not consumers.
Luke 10:2 (NLT) – The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.
We know that in this crazy, mixed up world…a lot of people are searching for answers. We know that the answers can be found in scripture and through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, it can be hard to figure out a comfortable place to go to take that “first step” in finding the answers that you are looking for.
That is exactly why we created harvest 10:2. So that you could have a safe place to start that journey. We firmly believe that God created you to do great things and to have a powerful impact on this world. Here is the thing though…you were not created to do it alone. Everything about harvest 10:2 is a home-space to find mentoring, coaching, pastoring, and guiding. We will reach for you and those near you to provide you with the tools you need to achieve more than you ever thought possible.
MEET TODD MEERT
Lead Pastor
My mission in life is to serve as Jesus’ disciple and fulfill God’s purpose for my life. After years of serving in my local church, I went on my first mission trip to South Africa in 2008. While on that trip, I wrote the following statement in my journal: “For the first time in my life, I feel like I am exactly where I am supposed to be…doing exactly what it is that He created me to do.” It was then that I realized the nudge to go into full-time ministry. So, I enrolled in classes at Cornerstone University and received a B.S. in Ministry. Since then, God has called me to serve in South Africa, Haiti, Jamaica, North Carolina, and eventually back home to SW Michigan.
I grew up a country kid in SW Michigan with a love for basketball, Michigan State, and the farm. I met my wife Courtney in college and we actually got engaged two months after we met. That was in 1989!
We have three children, a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law, two granddaughters, one grandson, and a host of foreign exchange students that we call our children as well. They are from the Netherlands, South Africa, Brazil, and the far away country of Martin, Michigan.
Now-a-days, Courtney and I enjoy kayaking, the great outdoors, and spoiling our four-legged son Bentley.
OUR CORE VALUES
We have put together the following core values for harvest 10:2. We use these core values as our ministry credo. Understanding that “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13 KJV), these values serve as our starting point.
-
We prioritize biblical teaching/knowledge.
We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God and that everything we do needs to align with biblical support. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16 NIV). Therefore, we will examine everything we do to see if it is biblically supported.
-
We prioritize fellowship.
We believe that it is important to gather together and support each other as Christians just as the early church did. “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24-25, NIV). Therefore, we must meet regularly and hold each other accountable for the calling God has given us.
-
We prioritize prayer.
We believe that a healthy prayer life is essential in our relationship with God. Jesus taught us how to pray when he said “This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” (Matthew 6:9-13, NIV). Therefore, we will have an open relationship with our Father through prayer.
-
We prioritize evangelism.
We believe that it is important to spread the gospel. “He said to them, Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” (Mark 16:15, NIV). Therefore, we will spread the gospel through our words and actions everywhere we go.
-
We prioritize discipleship/equipping.
We believe that it is vitally important to equip others to serve God and become disciples. “So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:11-13, NIV). Therefore, we will disciple others to be fully equipped to serve God and his calling on their lives.
